Veterans Day
Oak Ridge Schools celebrated Veterans Day in a variety of ways last week, and here are some highlights. On Monday, November 7th , Willow Brook Elementary School second and fourth grade music students, directed by Michelle Goethert, presented “We Celebrate America,” including songs about our nation’s states, symbols, and our rights to vote. They specifically honored veteran guests with the songs, “American Tears” and “Salute to the Armed Forces.” Students gave testimonials about why they love our country. Woodland Elementary School second graders, directed by Susie Carden, presented a musical tribute honoring all who served on Thursday, November 10th. Representative Regan was the guest speaker, and kicked off the celebration with a few classic elephant jokes. Principal, Nancy West introduced our veteran guests. The students gave oral presentations of facts about our America and sang several songs honoring our country and our veterans. Oak Ridge High School instructor, Patrick LaDue is a veteran who shared some photos from Quatar and wore his dress blues for the day.
