Oak Ridge Schools Superintendent Dr. Bruce Borchers today announced the appointment of Ms. Ginny Rigell Boles as principal of Glenwood Elementary effective July 1, 2019. An interview committee comprised of Glenwood and central office staff selected Ms. Boles following the screening of applications and interviews of selected candidates. Ms. Boles replaces Ms. Pearl Goins who recently retired.
Ms. Boles has enthusiastically accepted the role as the next principal of Glenwood Elementary. Maryville City Schools has been her home since 2001, working in a variety of positions as a teacher, assistant principal, and as principal of John Sevier Elementary for the past 5 years. As a member of the John Sevier team, Ms. Boles was able to lead the school to Reward School status for multiple years, lead the district in developing a literacy framework, created opportunities for student engagement through the superhero character education program, and established a strong base for family involvement by keeping students at the center of every decision and successfully building a positive working relationship with staff and parents.
A 1993 graduate from Oak Ridge High School, Ms. Boles received a bachelor’s degree in Child Development with teacher licensure from Maryville College in 1997. She completed her master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
Dr. Borchers shared that he is “pleased to have Ms. Boles join the excellent staff at Glenwood Elementary School. I look forward to her leadership and believe that Glenwood students, parents, and staff will be very excited to make her part of the Glenwood family.”
