On Monday, January 13, Robertsville Middle School hosted its annual spelling bee. 80 students participated in the contest. After 17 rounds, 7th grader Zen Bennett correctly spelled the word assertion to win the bee. 7th grader Eurydice Delmau placed second.
Jefferson Middle School held its spelling bee on Thursday, January 16. The JMS Bee also lasted 17 rounds before 8th grader Imelia Markus-Brock correctly spelled transmute to win the competition. 7th grader Cayce Byrd finished in second place.
Zen and Imelia both advance to the 2020 Southern Appalachia Regional Spelling Bee in March. Congratulations and good luck to Zen and Imelia!
