The Jefferson Middle School (JMS) FIRST Lego League teams represented Oak Ridge well in the East Tennessee State Championship on Saturday, February 11. The three JMS team names are: RadioActive Brix, Atomic Eagles, and Master Builders. The RadioActive Brix won the 1st place Core Values award. This award goes to a team that displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, knows they can accomplish more together than they could as individuals, and consistently shows respect to each other and other teams. The Atomic Eagles won the 2nd place Robot Design award. This award goes to a team that uses outstanding programming principles and solid engineering practices to develop a robot that is mechanically sound, durable, efficient, and highly capable of performing challenge missions. The Master Builders won the 3rd place Champions award. This award celebrates a team that embodies the FIRST Lego League Challenge experience, by fully embracing our Core Values while achieving excellence and innovation in Robot Performance, Robot Design and the Innovation Project. With this award, they earned a spot at either the Razorback Invitational in Arkansas or the WPI Annual FIRST Lego League event otherwise known as the Waffle in Worcester, MA.
