GENERAL INFORMATION
An employee in this position performs skilled mechanical work that involves installing and repairing Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning equipment, and all plumbing systems throughout the district. Work is performed under the direction of the Maintenance Technician Foreman. This position subject to final approval of FY’17 budget.
DUTIES
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Individual may be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Individual may also be required to work on scaffolds, stepladders, and high extension ladders. Work involves exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
- Inspect, install or maintain heating and air-conditioning equipment throughout the District.
- Read blue-prints and schematics.
- Purchase material and parts necessary to repair plumbing systems or HVAC equipment.
- Evaluate and recharge air-conditioning systems with refrigerants as necessary.
- Overhaul compressors, condensers and other equipment as needed.
- Diagnose, repair and calibrate electronic and pneumatic HVAC controls.
- Diagnose and repair variable frequency drives.
- Operate computer based control systems, establish run schedules, and perform emergency restarts.
- Assist in estimating and planning maintenance and construction projects.
- Identify and report system repairs needed and safety discrepancies when noted.
- Assist in the design and specification of HVAC control systems and verify the performance of completed work.
- Maintain accountability and inventory for assigned tools and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate from high school or equivalency diploma. Required certifications and licenses include a Electrical Contractor’s certification from the City of Oak Ridge, the North American Technician Excellence certification, and the EPA Universal Certification for stationary air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
SALARY RANGE
$15.65 to $23.65
