ORPSEF Grant Provides iPads to Woodland 2nd Grade

Woodland 2nd grade teachers would like to give our sincerest thanks to the Oak Ridge Schools Education Foundation for our new iPads. With these iPads, 2nd graders are using various apps to develop skills, conduct research, read online books, and work on coding. Students love working independently and using the iPads collaboratively in their learning.

2nd Graders Visit IJAMS

Woodland 2nd graders had a great time exploring IJAMS Nature Center in Knoxville to further their studies on plants and animals in Tennessee. We hiked along the Tennessee River and observed natural formations, such as caves. We also visited the IJAMS bug house to hunt for bugs.

Munchkins with Moms

Congratulations to our PTO board for hosting the “Munchkins and Muffins with Moms” event on Friday, March 10th.  It was a huge turnout, and it was wonderful having so many come and join us!  What a great way to celebrate our last day of school before spring break!

Woodland Chess Club is Going to State!

On Saturday, March 4th, Woodland Elementary Chess Club competed in the regional tournament at Lenoir City High School. We were represented in 2 divisions: Elementary (6th grade and younger) and Primary (3rd grade an younger). Both teams did an excellent job competing and are bringing home trophies to place in the trophy case at Woodland.
