Woodland’s annual STEAM night on Thursday, November 1st was a great success. With so many amazing guests and activities it was a fun time for everyone who attended!
Our wonderful PTO arranged for several outstanding guests to our Woodland STEAM night. These guests provided activities that show how science, technology, engineering, and math impact our everyday lives! We are so grateful to our guests from Consolidated Nuclear Security, Y-12, Bush Brothers & Co., National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and Bechtel.
We also had additional rooms set up by TTU students providing fun educational STEM activities for our students. These TTU students set up an escape room and a green screen room. They also provided students with coding experiences through Dash and Dot robots, Ozbots, and Coding Unplugged.
Each grade level provided a STEM challenge for visiting students as well. These challenges were movie themed including: Moana, Ferdinand, Lego Movie, The Princess and the Frog, and Harry Potter.
In addition to all the other STEM activities, we also had a visit from some Jefferson Middle School Lego League members (several of which are former Woodland students). They explained the theme of their challenge for this year, as well as allowed students to challenge one another with SumoBots.
Along with all of these wonderful STEAM activities, there was also GoNoodle in the Gym, a Safety Patrol Fundraiser, and an area set up to help create decorations for the tree Woodland is working on for Fantasy of Trees.
Thank you to all the PTO parents, community members, and teachers who worked so hard to give us another amazing STEAM Night!
