Woodland’s First Graders have just finished up our Election unit. In the past few weeks, we’ve read books with 3 different candidates: Duck, Grace, and Otto. Students were encouraged to discuss the character traits of each candidate and consider who would make the best president.
After learning about each candidate, students joined campaigns to make posters for their chosen candidates.
On Friday of election week, it was finally time to fill out our ballots, grab our Voter’s Registration cards, and head to the voting booth!
All of first grade gathered in the cafeteria on Friday afternoon to hear the results of the 2023 election. The ballots were tallied and the results were closer than ever before with Grace winning by JUST 1 VOTE! Guess that goes to show that every vote matters!
