RMS Teacher Receives Civil Rights/Liberties Excellence in Teaching Award

John Spratling, a veteran teacher at Robertsville Middle School in Oak Ridge, received the Civil Rights/Liberties: Excellence in Teaching award during the Tennessee Council for the Social Studies virtual conference on Saturday, February 27th. The award is sponsored by Social Studies School Service. He will receive a plaque and a check for $250.

7th Grader Wins RMS Spelling Bee

Solomon Karisa, a 7th grader, recently won the 2021 Robertsville Middle School Spelling Bee. He correctly spelled the word
convulsive to win the competition. The runner-up was 5th grader Quentin Delmau. Solomon will represent RMS in the Knoxville News-Sentinel Regional Spelling Bee in March.

Deadline Extended for Families to Apply for COVID-19 Food Assistance

The Tennessee Department of Human Services announced financial assistance is available for families who qualify for free or reduced school lunches, through the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program.
