On Thursday, November 8, Robertsville hosted Marc Tyler Nobleman. Author of numerous non-fiction titles for middle grade readers, Mr. Nobleman presented to 5th and 6th graders and some specially invited 7th and 8th graders in the morning. He also conducted a question and answer session with students from Ms. Kinder-McMillan’s Creative Writing/Journalism class and Mr. Smith’s Book Club.
Mr. Nobleman is best known for his two books on the creators on Superman and Batman. The Boys of Steel details the early lives of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, two high schoolers who developed the character of Superman during the Great Depression and helped to launch the era of superhero comics. Bill, the Boy Wonder tells the story of Bill Finger, one of the creators of Batman. Nobleman’s research for this book became the subject of a documentary that is available on Hulu.
