Over 500 Jefferson Middle School students competed in this year’s National Geographic Bee qualifying round, which was then narrowed down to the top 35-  5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The Bee was held at JMS on Wednesday, January 23rd. Congratulations to the following students for finishing top in their class in the Bee:

Mary Pyle, 5th grade

William Shen, 6th grade

David Wilson, 7th grade

The two finalists were narrowed down to 8th graders Ashley Godfrey and Ella Kendall. The final question was, “February 2019 marks the start of the Alpine World Ski Championships. This competition will be held in which country that is the most populous in Scandinavia?”  Congratulations to the new JMS Geographic Bee Champion, Ella Kendall for correctly answering, “Sweden.”

A big thank you to Ms. Haverkamp and Coach Reddick for serving as judges. Thanks also to Mr. Linn for not mis-pronouncing any of the words while reading the Bee questions.

Ella will now go on to compete for a spot at the state championship in Nashville in March- Good Luck Ella!!!!!!!!!!!!
