Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin
ORHS is hosting a mini college fair in the lobby during lunch today. We will have over 20 colleges and universities in attendance. It’s never too early to start thinking about post secondary options.
AP payments have gone digital! The Spring AP payment window will open on February 1st and close March 1st at 11:59pm for all students enrolled in an AP course. This year all AP exams are $101 each except for AP Seminar and Research exams which are $149 each. If you’re taking 3 or more exams your 4th and all subsequent exams are $40 each. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch your exams are $15 each. If that is you, please contact jmmilligan2@ortn.edu to verify your status and receive your code before registering. Make plans to join the Masquers Improv Team on Friday, February 7th at 7 pm for the Valentine Improv Show! Featuring a team of creative and hilarious storytellers, you are sure to have a great time exploring the sometimes funny and often crazy theme of LOVE. Bring your loved one, your friends, your family, or ALL of THEM for an entertaining night. See you there on February 7th at 7 pm. Tickets are $5 at the door and online at orhsmasquers.booktix.com.
The Rex Hitchcock Memorial Scholarship, from One Bank of Tennessee, was created to reward local students for graduation and the pursuit of higher education. One student is selected from each of our nine service counties. Eight of the nine selected students will receive a one-time $5000 scholarship. One of the selected students will receive a recurring $5000 scholarship for up to 5 years. A letter of recommendation and the scholarship application must be submitted by March 31st. More information can be found on their website. The application can be downloaded now or completed online after February 1st.
With the HOSA state competition just around the corner, sophomores Leah Mcvay and Natalie Jackson have begun their mental health project! Their project is entitled Speak Up Save a Life focusing on suicide prevention and the stigma around mental health. Attention current junior health science students:
Application for Dual Enrollment Clinical Internship and Nursing Education is now available. See Mrs. Minarik in room CS200 for Clinical Internship application and Mrs. Pointer in CS201 for Nursing Ed. application. The applications are due on February 7. That is a hard deadline. See either Minarik or Pointer with questions.
Winter formal tickets are on sale now during 3A and 3B for $25. We will take a break from sales today for the College Fair and then will resume sales tomorrow, January 28. Don’t forget to vote for Snow Court by donating money in the name of your favorite candidates. The money will go to Second Harvest Food Bank. Hope to see you there!

CLUB INFO
The Ski Club will be taking a trip to Sugar Mountain on February 17th. Scan the QR code outside Jarnigan’s door or on the Ski Club information board to sign up. In addition to the online sign up, there are some paper forms that have to be signed and turned back in. You can also get these forms from Mr. Jarnigan in room LC 321 or from the Ski Club bulletin board in the LC 200 science area. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Jarnigan.
Interact will meet today after school in the amphitheater. We will be working on the scrap book, a newspaper article and conference stuff.
