STUDENT INFO

 

The Fall Play “Clue” premieres on Thursday!  Do you have your tickets for this hilarious comedy?  Shows are Nov 11-14:  Thursday at 7, Saturday at 7, and Sunday at 2.  Advance tickets are $6 and are available from a Masquer or from the ORHS Bookstore in the main office.  Tickets will be available at the door for $7 for students and $8 for adults. 2022 Mandatory Track Team Meeting will be Monday 11/15 in LC 326 at 3:30.  We will discuss the new facility, procedures, schedule, and expectations for the upcoming season.  Anyone not signed up yet needs to see Coach Sauer in LC 308. (M,W,F) – T. Sauer

The AMC 10 and 12 A competition will be held in the Amphitheatre on Wednesday, November 10th.   If you have signed up, please report there by 7:45am.  If you would like some practice before, ask a Math teacher for a previous year’s exam. (11/4-11/9) – J. Zimprich

 

Jostens will return to the Main Lobby and Arena Concessions’ Kiosk on Thursday,  November 18, during lunch to collect orders for class rings. Any student at ORHS may order a class ring. $60 deposit is required. Extra packets are available in the Main Office and CS347. Design your ring online at https://www.jostens.com/. The City of Oak Ridge Youth Advisory Board is hosting a Jobs Fair for Students on Wednesday, November 10th, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the ORHS Food Court.  The event will introduce students to possible job opportunities just in time to make some money before the holidays.  For questions, contact Leah Riley at the Civic Center Front Desk at 865-425-3450.”  (M,W,F – 11.10)  M. Attention Sophomores or Juniors interested in attending Governor’s School for the Arts 2022:

The TN Governor’s School for the Arts will be held June 4th, 2022 – June 25th, 2022 at Middle TN State University

Guidelines and instructions on how to apply have been sent to your school email and posted on Skyward. You must follow the guidelines set by ORHS when applying. ORHS has different deadlines than the actual Governor’s School. Information about Governor’s Schools other than Arts will be distributed in the near future.

Governor’s School – Summer 2022  (These dates are different than Governor’s School for the Arts)

Any Sophomore of Junior interested in attending Governor’s School during the Summer 2022, please see the attached list of Governor’s Schools offered by the state.  You must adhere to the deadlines set by ORHS when applying. ORHS has different deadlines than the actual Governor’s School. Governor’s School is organized by the State and the individual colleges so please refer to this website for details about the various schools and their prerequisites: https://www.tn.gov/education/instruction/tdoe-governors-schools.html

 

IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES FOR ORHS STUDENTS FOR ALL GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL EXCEPT ARTS

  • TODAY Monday, November 8, 2021 – Deadline to request a Counselor Nomination if you are applying to Governor’s School for International Studies (https://forms.office.com/r/eTwCSfB443) or Governor’s School for Sciences & Engineering (https://forms.office.com/r/qyngA6KtTy). These are the only two schools that require nominations and the forms to request nominations are linked above.
  • Friday, November 19, 2021 – Deadline for giving teachers and counselors recommendation forms and your resume. Tell teachers their letters are due to Counseling no later than Friday, December 17, 2021.
  • Friday, December 17, 2021 – Deadline to turn in your complete application to the School Counseling Office.  (T,Th) – D. Ottinger

Roll, Wildcats, Roll!!! The Motorcycle club will host a workshop on winterizing your bike next Tuesday, November 9th , 4 PM at Bootlegger Harley Davidson. Come out and learn how to take care of your ride, check out some great bikes and talk shop with other bike enthusiasts! See Ms. Hondorf in LC210 for more information and to pick up some freebies! Seniors: go to the Class of 2022 Page in Canvas, and submit your signature for the senior shirt by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, November 12. (M,-Th) – T. Ledden

 

Seniors: beginning tomorrow, turn in senior signature shirt/sweat orders during lunch at the Arena Concessions’ Kiosk. Cash or check made payable to ORHS. You may also give your order to Mrs. Ledden in CS347. (M) – T. Ledden
