On Wednesday, December 11th, The Oak Ridge High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) conducted their Annual Military Inspection (AMI) in the Wildcat Arena. Multiple distinguished guests attended, including Commander Merv Dial, the Area 9 Manager, Tennessee State Representative John Ragan, Superintendent, Dr. Bruce Borchers, and several other renowned members of the Oak Ridge community. The AMI is an inspection conducted annually by the Navy to ensure that each NJROTC unit is operating at and maintaining the Navy’s standards. The inspection is followed by a formal military ceremony. During the ceremony, both the armed and unarmed drill teams performed a routine for the audience and distinguished guests.
The AMI was supported by Ms. Amanda Ragan and her outstanding students of the Oak Ridge High School chorus department’s Ensemble. The Ensemble sang the National Anthem as well as the service song of each military, followed by America the Beautiful. Several cadets were recognized for demonstrating Exceptional Personal Appearance while in uniform. Cadet Elizabeth Tovar was recognized as the Cadet of the Month for November; Cadets Daviona Johnson, Thomas McWaters, and Amelia Van Berkel received the Cadet Achievement award for exceptional performance in ROTC. Cadet Van Berkel was meritoriously promoted to Cadet Petty Officer 2nd Class by Oak Ridge High School’s principal, Mr. Martin McDonald for her All-Around superior performance as a NJROTC cadet and Oak Ridge High School student.
The Pass-in-Review was executed by over 140 cadets and led by the Wildcat Company’s Commanding Officer, Cadet Lieutenant Commander Ryan Register.
