Intersession Forms are available in student services and the school counseling office. If you have a failing grade in a class, you have the opportunity to improve you grade during intersession, Sept. 30th through October 3. We are also offering an ACT prep course just in time for the upcoming October ACT tests. Forms must be submitted no later than noon on Friday, September 27th. (9/19-9/27) – B. Estep
Jostens will return to the Main Lobby and Arena Concessions’ Kiosk on Thursday, October 17, during lunch to collect orders for class rings. Any student at ORHS may order a class ring. $60 deposit is required. Extra packets are available in CS347. (9/20, 9/23, 9/25, 10/15) – T. Ledden
Last call for anyone interested in traveling to Costa Rica Spring Break 2020. Costa Rica’s lush rainforests, volcanic mountains and sparkling Pacific waters are some of the places you will explore. ACT Prep: If you signed up to take the English and Reading practice tests, meet Coach Etheridge in the Amphitheater by 1:55 PM on Wednesday, September 25. The English portion takes 45 minutes, while the Reading test takes 35. I’ll have your scores by the Monday when we return from Fall Break, and then we will go over the highest value questions on Wednesday, October 16, in LC 327, at 2:00 PM. Student Council is hosting the first ever Homecoming Cookout and Parade this Thursday night from 6-8pm at the front loop of the school. We will have a parade of clubs and sports, the official presentation of the Homecoming Court, an auction to benefit the football team, food, games, and performances. COUNSELING INFO
NC STATE UNIVERSITY – is offering the Park Scholarship. This opportunity is based on outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service and character. It is a four year scholarship valued at up to $205,000 out-of-state, including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, travel, and personal expenses. If you would like to be considered for a nomination by ORHS please submit a personal statement and resume to Ms. Redman in the School Counseling office by Friday, September 27. (9/20-9/27 MWF) – A. On Tuesday, October 15th, after fall break, the counselors will be visiting all the freshmen Guided Studies classes to review graduation requirements and provide an overview of counseling resources. (F) – A. Campbell
Wednesday, October 16th, the PSAT, for all 10th and 11th graders that registered for the test, will be given 1st – 5th periods. Lunch will be served 6th and studentswill be expected to be in 7th and 8th periods. Testing locations will be posted around the school by Tuesday, October 15th.
