Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

Convocation Ushers-There will be a mandatory meeting immediately after school on Thursday (5/23)  in the auditorium to assign roles and practice before the senior breakfast on Friday and the actual event on May 29th. If you are unable to attend, please see Madame Barry in CS 307. Merci!

 

We have an important parking announcement for all students who drive to school.  For the remainder of the school year if your car is parked in a staff parking spot at any point in the day it is subject to be towed.  Please only park in student parking spots in the designated student lots (Arena and Turnpike) or on the street on Providence Road. We are not just finishing a grading term, we are finishing an entire academic year! Go out strong with some free NHS tutoring from Amanda North and Teagan Russell in the Counseling Center from 3:15 to 3:50 on Tuesday. (5/20-5/21) – K. Senter

 

This Thursday, May 23rd, Senior Steering is hosting a showing of the 2004 movie “The Incredibles” on the ORHS soccer field.  All ORHS students are invited to this free event.  The movie will start at dark, approximately 9pm.  Students are encouraged to bring their own seating (blanket or chair).  Movie will end around 11pm.  (5/20-5/21) – D. Yearbooks will be on sale every morning this week before school, starting at 7:15, in CS328 in the English wing.  They will also be on sale between classes or after school on Wednesday and Thursday only.  We are down to a very limited number of books, so buy one early in the week if you would like one–$85 cash only. SERVICE HOURS & TN PROMISE VOLUNTEER HOURS AVAILABLE

 

Seniors still needing TN Promise community service hours before July 1st: Linden’s Lions Pride Team will be hosting School Clean Up Days this coming Saturday, May 11th and again on Saturday, May 25th from7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. They will also host this on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of June (8th and 22nd)

No need to sign up, simply SHOW UP! Water and hand sanitizer provided but bring a rake, shovel and/or broom and complete your hours for TN Promise and help Linden Elementary look GREAT in the process!

TN Promise students can earn 4.0 hours of service at the Department of Public Works Open House.  You would be helping set up for the event and then working various booths during the Open House.  You will need to report to Tasha Pitsenbarger at the Central Services Complex (100 Woodbury Ave.) on Thursday, May 23 at 4:00pm and should be out of there by 8:00pm.  Please call Tasha at 425-1875 if you have any questions. Seniors – come prepared on Wednesday to return your ORHS laptop, case, charging cable and stylus.  Bring your items to the Library beginning at 11:30 am.  If charges for lost items or repairs are needed, you will receive a letter with pictures at the time of return. Students who need their laptops on Thursday, will be allowed to bring theirs in any time that day.  Laptops MUST be turned in to attend Senior Breakfast. Seniors who are or will be 18 years old on or before February 20, 2020, may register to vote this Friday morning before your breakfast. The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge will set up in the food court to register you. Members of the League have been sworn in by the Anderson County Election Commissioner Mark Stephens so that you may vote in the next election, whether or not you are out of state. You must know your social security number to register. Once your registration is processed (it takes about two weeks), you will receive by snail mail your registration card. This opportunity to register now is a real

convenience, so do take advantage of it. Voting is your right as a U.S. Citizen as Former General and U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower put it.  (5/21-5/24) – T. Seals
