Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

Do you have great ideas for the Superintendent of our school?  Come and pick up an application in the Student Services office to serve on the Superintendent’s Student Council for the 2018-2019 school year .   Council is open for anyone from grades 9-12th.  The Council meets on the third Thursday of the month from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the School Administration Building conference room.  Remember attendance is a must for this position.   The 1st meeting will be Thursday October, 18th.   Applications are due no later than September 18th at 3:30 pm. Celebrate the end of the first term with an End of Summer dance party  Saturday, September, 29th 7-9:30 sponsored by the senior class in the B-gym.  The theme is Hawaiian so pull out your bikinis, swim trunks and hula skirts.  Tickets are $5  (9/12-9/13) – D. Sobek

CLUB INFO

 

Join FCA this Friday for a word from Pastor Derrick Hammond from Oak Valley Baptist and some good breakfast food.  We will meet, as usual, in the Providence House, at 7 am.  All are invited and welcome to attend. (9/12-9/13) – R. Byrd

SENIOR INFO

 

SENIOR SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST:  Please submit your designs for the Class of 2019 Senior Shirt to Mrs. Ledden in Room CS347 by Wednesday, September 19. You do not have to be a senior to submit designs for the shirt—open to all grade levels. We need a front design and a back design.  Each of these designs is a separate “contest”.  Prizes for each contest are as follows:  Front – $25; Back – $25.

Be sure to incorporate ORHS, Seniors, and Class of 2019 into your drawings.  Place your name and homeroom teacher’s name on the back of each design entry.  Entries must be original work and if selected, will become the property of Oak Ridge High School.  (Selection committee reserves the right to combine two or more designs in which case each person will receive prize money.) Any senior who did not receive a graduation supplies packet from the Jostens representatives yesterday in the Arena, should pick one up in CS347. The first date to order graduation supplies will be Wednesday, September 19, during lunch in the Concessions Kiosk at the Arena. $60 deposit is required. (9/13-9/14) – T. Ledden

COUNSELING INFO

 

Vandy Fan for a Day provides high school students with information about the selective college admissions process, insight into Vanderbilt’s excellent scholarship programs, and an opportunity to enjoy the excitement of game day as the Vanderbilt Commodores take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, November 17th. Are you a rising sophomore or junior that feel you would benefit from a chance to participate in the Vandy Fan for a day program? If so, please see Mrs. Morris in the Counseling Office so that your name can be added to the Nominations list by Friday, September 14th. (Tu, Th – 9.14) A. Morris

 

SOPHOMORES and JUNIORS – Anyone interested in applying to any of the Tennessee Governor’s Schools needs to stop by the School Counseling office by Tuesday, September 18 to submit your name and pick up guidelines and instructions for completing your application from Ms. Morris.  You must meet deadlines set by ORHS and your application must be submitted by ORHS in order to apply.  If you have any questions please email Ms. Redman. ACT Prep at Roane State-Oak Ridge campus: the date is Saturday, October 20th from 8:30 a.m.-1:00pm. The cost is $59 for the one-day event. You can call Roane State’s campus to register.

Oak Ridge HS will also host ACT Prep Monday, October 1st-Thursday, October 4th during fall break for half days. There is no charge for this ACT prep and you can sign up when intersession forms are available this FRIDAY.  (9/13-9/14) – K. Rowland

Don’t wait in line this Friday night any home athletic event. Get your Student Athletic Pass for only $55.00 in the Main Office and you can save over $100 and not wait in line for any home athletic event this year (excluding TSSAA tournaments and play-off games)  (W-F) – T. Seals
