Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

 

The ORHS Wildcat Credit Union will open for the 2018-19 school year on Thursday, August 30. The credit union is open each Tuesday and Thursday at lunch in the Food Court. Both staff and students can take advantage of the Wildcat Credit Union (a branch of Y-12 Federal Credit Union). Students can earn free money! Get one stamp for every dollar you deposit, up to 5 per day. Once you get 30 stamps, you get $15 free deposited into your Wildcat CU account. So if you deposit $5 every time the credit union is open for three weeks, you can earn $15 (and then start over and do it again)! (W) – T. Ledden

Come to Espana with us in June and get to experience the world with a decidedly spicy flavor!  ¿Tienes preguntas? Got questions? Go see Sras. Mas-Effler or Gilland and they’ll give you answers. Think you’ll be hungry on Wednesday?  Of course you will!  Well, get your eat on and help out the Lady Wildcat Basketball team by grubbing down at Salsarita’s!  They’ll receive a percentage of anything made that day.  So eat good and do good all at the same time!  YUM! (W) – K. Holt

 

National Honor Society has even more free tutor power to help you through your midterm challenges. Come Tuesday from 3:15 to 3:50 in the Counseling Center to see Henry Shen, Jasleen Narula, and Kate Hausladen. (Tu) – K Senter

 

English Language Learner Friends (ELLF) will resume on Tuesday at Willow Brook Elementary School. If you have been involved in this program or may be interested in tutoring students, you should report for a training and informational meeting that will take place at Willow Brook Elementary School from 3:30 until 4:45 on Tuesday, August 28. Me too!  Come to a book club meeting in the library after school on Tuesday, 8/28.  Come to talk about what you’d like to do in book club this year and help decide on the best meeting day and time. The first of two Senior Seminars for Parents is this week. Parents of students in the Class of 2019 can join the Counselors this Thursday at 6:00 p.m. to learn everything we are sharing with the students during their Senior Seminars. (Th) – B. Ottinger

If you are interested in learning how to code or improving your coding skills, please join us, the Computer Science Club, Wednesdays right after school in Mr. Jackson’s room, LC227, until 3:00pm. All are welcome! (W) – K. Jackson

Vandy Fan for a Day provides high school students with information about the selective college admissions process, insight into Vanderbilt’s excellent scholarship programs, and an opportunity to enjoy the excitement of game day as the Vanderbilt Commodores take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, November 17th. Are you a rising sophomore or junior that feel you would benefit from a chance to participate in the Vandy Fan for a day program? If so, please see Mrs. Morris in the Counseling Office so that your name can be added to the Nominations list by Friday, September 14th. (Tu, Th – 9.14) A. Morris

 

Representatives from New York University, Tulane University, George Washington University, Southern Methodist University, University of Miami, and Northeastern University will be In Knoxville to meet you and share information about their respective schools on Thursday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. That is over fall break.
