STUDENT INFO

Want to know if you ordered a yearbook before it’s too late?  Yearbook final numbers go in next week!  Come to the table at the top of the cafeteria to find out if you’ve already purchased one or need to—yearbook staffers will be available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to inform you! CLUB & ORGANIZATION INFO

There is a regional chess tournament open to all students Saturday, Jan. 27 at ORHS.  Let’s try to take advantage of playing “at home” to have the largest contingent of any school.  We will likely have a yearbook group photo taken that morning so we would like any chess players to visit even if you can’t stay for the entire tournament.  Registration may be done online at www.reg4chess.com. Book Club will meet Monday, January 29, in the Makerspace after school. Come for pizza, to talk about books and to make some plans for this spring. (1/25, 1/26, 1/29) – C. Milloway

The newly formed Biology Olympiad club will meet during lunch on Friday in LC110.  If you are interested in joining or want more information, please come to our first meeting. ( 1/25-1/26) – S. Thomas

Come Ski with us tomorrow after school at Ober Gatlinburg.  $74 pays for transportation, lift ticket and equipment.  We will load the bus at 3:15 pm in the bus loop.  If you are bringing your own equipment you can store it at school in the math department – see Ms. Stevens in CS 237 in the morning.  Tomorrow, in addition to skiing, 103.5 WIMZ is hosting “Ober Rocks”.  There will be live music and a hot-wing eating contests.  (1/25-1/26) – D. Join Philosophy Club this Friday after school in Mr. Pickering’s room (LC322) for two exciting ethics bowl cases on nationalism and environmental ethics. Once again, we will be joined by special guest Dr. Alex Feldt from the UTK Philosophy Department and director of the Tennessee Ethics Bowl. Everyone is welcome! (1/25-1/26) – A. Pickering

The scholarship application deadline for the Oak Ridge Rotary Club Brad Sturm Memorial Scholarship and Rotary Club of Oak Ridge College Founders Scholarship has been extended to February 15th (1/26-1/29) – K. Rowland
