Attention current junior health science students:
Application for Dual Enrollment Clinical Internship and Nursing Education is now available. See Mrs. Minarik in room CS200 for Clinical Internship application and Mrs. Pointer in CS201 for Nursing Ed. application. The applications are due on February 7. That is a hard deadline. See either Minarik or Pointer with questions.
The Spring AP payment window is now open and will close March 1st at 11:59pm for all students enrolled in an AP course. This year all AP exams are $101 each except for AP Seminar and Research exams which are $149 each. If you’re taking 3 or more exams your 4th and all subsequent exams are $40 each. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch your exams are $15 each. If that is you, please contact jmmilligan2@ortn.edu to verify your status and receive your code before registering. Any student who likes poetry is encouraged to enter the Unity Through Poetry Spoken Word Contest, sponsored by the Poet Laureates of the City of Oak Ridge. All entries must be original works of 25 typewritten lines on the theme of unity. Cash awards for first, second, and third place. Deadline for entries is Friday, February 28. For more information, including specific submission requirements and where to submit your work, see this week’s iNews or talk to Mr. Stebbins in CS339.
Any students interested in participating in Work-Based Learning in Business, Welding, Information Technology, or STEM for 2025-2026 should attend the mandatory meeting after school on Wednesday, March 5, in room CS347 with Mrs. Ledden to begin the application process and to learn the specifics of the program.
Next week is Compassion Week. Please show your compassion on Monday, February 10th by wearing green and saying something positive to someone. Remember, you feel happy when you make someone smile.
Juniors – The American Legion is once again organizing the annual week-long Boys’ State program this May. The program is a practical experience for young men to experience the actual challenges of state government. Participants will put into practice the theories of government through participation in city, county, and state governments organized as a “Mythical 51 State”. If you are interested in this program, stop by the Counseling Office, and give your name to Ms. O’Rourke

Seniors!! The Counseling Office has information on scholarships – some are for just Oak Ridge students, some are based on what you want to study, some are open to everyone to apply. Stop by the Counseling Office for more information on these scholarships. Don’t delay – many scholarships have March 1 deadlines for applications to be submitted!!

The Interact club will meet on Monday, February 10 after school in the amphitheater. We will be working on the Rotary project, Emma’s Bears.

All new and returning players on the Wildcat and Lady Wildcat tennis teams will practice from 3:30-4:30 on Monday, February 10th, rain OR shine. The ONLY students eligible to attend Monday’s practice, rain OR shine, have completed BOTH medical requirements and have been cleared to play by the ORHS Athletic Office.
