Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

 

STUDENT INFO

 

Winter formal tickets are on sale now during 3A and 3B for $25. We will take a break from selling on Monday, January 27 for the College Fair and then resume sales on Tuesday, January 28. Don’t forget to vote for Snow Court by donating money in the name of your favorite candidates. The money will go to Second Harvest Food Bank. Hope to see you there!

 

ORHS is hosting a mini college fair in the lobby during lunch on January 27, 2025.  We will have over 20 colleges and universities in attendance.  It’s never too early to start thinking about post secondary options.

 

Masquers is back and gearing up for an entertaining semester! Mark your calendar for the Valentine Improv Show on Friday, February 7, The Addams Family musical on February 28th, March 1st & 2nd, Atomic Acts, a night of scenes on April 11th, and finally the theatre class performance of Class Acts, a series of One-Acts, on May 10th. Tickets are available online at orhsmasquers.booktix.com.

 

Mrs. King is currently accepting Wildcat Mentor applications for the 2025-2026 school year.  If you a sophomore or junior, please check your class canvas page or student square messages for the application.

 

AP payments have gone digital!  The Spring AP payment window will open on February 1st and close March 1st at 11:59pm for all students enrolled in an AP course. This year all AP exams are $101 each except for AP Seminar and Research exams which are $149 each.  If you’re taking 3 or more exams your 4th and all subsequent exams are $40 each.  If you qualify for free or reduced lunch your exams are $15 each.  If that is you, please contact jmmilligan2@ortn.edu to verify your status and receive your code before registering.  The link to pay is http://aptsusa.com/oakridge and will open on February 1st.

 

 

Congratulations to our Snow Court! If you are on the court, please check for a message from Mrs. Gilliland on Student Square. This year’s Snow Princes and Princesses are the following:

  • Freshmen: Reagan Lukes and Kamran King
  • Sophomores: Hailey Moore
  • Juniors: Natalie Reynolds and Thaddeus Jones
  • Seniors: Emersey Benson and Diego Wallace

 

Vote for snow king and queen in the cafeteria through next Friday, January 31 during 3A and 3B by donating money towards Second Harvest Food Bank. The Snow Prince and Princess who raise the most money will be crowned Snow King and Queen at the dance. Tickets to the dance also go on sale today for $25 in the cafeteria.

 

SENIORS

 

 

Seniors!  The East Tennessee Foundation (ETF) awards scholarships from over 75 scholarship funds in 25 East Tennessee counties.  There are two specific to ORHS Students:

Oak Ridge Rotary Brad Sturm

Oak Ridge Rotary Founders’ Day Scholarship

ETF also coordinates scholarship awards for students from 16 counties and states outside of our 25-county service area, and for students studying law, architecture, or sports-related fields of study. Go to the ETF Foundation website for more information.  Do not miss out on this opportunity!

 

 

CLUB INFO

 

Hola, Spanish Club will be meeting Monday January 27 if you are interested in joining the club stop by Señora Franco’s room LC304

 

The Ski Club will be taking a trip to Sugar Mountain on February 17th.  Scan the QR code outside Jarnigan’s door or on the Ski Club information board to sign up.  In addition to the online sign up, there are some paper forms that have to be signed and turned back in. You can also get these forms from Mr. Jarnigan in room LC 321 or from the Ski Club bulletin board in the LC 200 science area. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Jarnigan.

 

With the HOSA state competition just around the corner, sophomores Leah Mcvay and Natalie Jackson have begun their mental health project! Their project is entitled Speak Up Save a Life focusing on suicide prevention and the stigma around mental health. Interact will meet on 1/27 after school in the amphitheater. We will be working on the scrap book, a newspaper article and conference stuff.
