IT’S SPIRIT WEEK! Today is senior citizen day! Tomorrow is our Pep Rally and Wildcat Pride Day! Be sure to dress up to show your school spirit! Post your outfit and make sure to tag student council for the chance to win a gift card!

Voting for the Homecoming King and Queen will be open tomorrow for all grades from 8am-2pm. Be sure to cast your vote and catch the crowning ceremony at the half time of tomorrow night’s game against Clinton. Best of luck to all the princes and princesses.

Want to listen to your friends play classic video game music such as The legend of Zelda and Pokemon? If so, please join us on our Fall Orchestra Concert today, Thursday, September, 26th, at 7pm. It’ll be a fun concert and it’s completely free!”  –C. Hernandez

It’s that time again! After Fall Break, we’ll publish the next issue of Oak Ridge High School’s literary magazine, The Acorn, which is designed to showcase the creative talents of our students and staff- everything from fiction and poetry to the visual arts. Any ORHS student or staff member wishing to submit original creations for consideration in the next issue of The Acorn must email the file to wmstebbins@ortn.edu. All submissions must be received by 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26. For more detailed information, look for the flyer on the Wildcat Hangout page, in the iNews, or by emailing Mr. Stebbins.  –W. Homecoming Dance – Tickets have SOLD OUT.  No more tickets will be sold at school and no tickets will be sold at the door.  The dance is Saturday, September 28 from 7 – 10 PM at the DoubleTree Hotel in Oak Ridge.

Today is FROYO Tasty Treat Thursday!  Where: Snack Shack in lower cafeteria.  When: right after school until 330pm. Cost is $3.00 cash in hand, or your lunch account can be used.

ORHS is collecting nonperishable food items and monetary donations for Second Harvest of East Tennessee.  We are in competition with Clinton High School.  There are bins in the main lobby and a link to send donations posted in student square.  Let’s beat Clinton on and off the field this week!        – A. Don’t forget to stop by the Counseling Office during lunch today to visit the University of Alabama in Huntsville representative, and after school to meet the Duke representative.  Then, tomorrow after school we will have Hampden-Syndey College representative coming for a visit!

Oak Ridge High School has a brand new student exchange for the year 2025. It is organized by “The Friendship Connection, Inc.”. You will host a German student in your home for three weeks in the spring and you will live with that student in Germany in the summer of 2025.

Everybody who had two years of German and is taking German 3 in the spring or who already had at least three semesters of German in the past can sign-up for this opportunity. Students who already participated in the GAPP-exchange this year are also eligible for this exchange.

Sign-up before October 31st, 2024.

Seniors: you will receive your graduation supplies order packet from Jostens on Wednesday, October 16.  – T. Ledden

 

Seniors: please submit your signature for the Class of 2025 senior signature shirt! Go to the Class of 2025 Canvas page and locate the assignment. Read the instructions carefully. If you would like to see a previous year’s shirt and what the names will look like, come by and see Mrs. Ledden in CS347 or CS342 (4th period). Signatures are due by 11:59 pm on Wednesday, October 23.

 

Senior Steering Members: please see Mrs. Ledden in CS347 (or CS342 during 4th period) to vote on the design for the senior signature shirt by 1:00 pm on Friday, September 27.

German Club will meet this Thursday, September 26th, after school in Ms Nebenfuehr’s classroom CS301 at 3:15. Everyone is welcome! We will have cookies, games, music and more!  – S. Nebenfuehr

 

Bonjour! French Club will meet Today, September 26th, from 3:15-4:00 in CS 312, Madame Pryfogle’s room, to continue Ratatouille and have popcorn! Merci!

 

FBLA will meet immediately after school on Wednesday, October 16, when we return from Fall Break. We will plan for the Trunk or Treat activity. Please bring a bag of candy. Seniors come right after the picture in the Arena.  – T.Ledden

 

Tomorrow is pickle day!  Pickleball Club meets tomorrow and every Friday.  Come out to the high school courts from 3:30-4:30 to get your pickle on.  Bring your equipment if you’ve got it and be prepared to battle (don’t worry if you don’t have your own – sharing is caring).  Permission slips are available from Froning, Jarnigan, or Kolodney – just return it to a sponsor or bring it to the next Friday of action.  See you on the courts!
