IT’S SPIRIT WEEK! Today is Meme Day! Post your outfits and make sure to tag student council on Instagram for a chance to win the daily gift card. Tomorrow is senior citizen day, and Friday is Wildcat Pride! Be sure to dress up to show your school spirit!

The door decoration contest is in full swing, and a winner will soon be revealed. Door decorating will be judged tomorrow, Thursday the 26th! Add any final designs today. The winning door will receive treats for the whole class courtesy of Student Council.

Want to listen to your friends play classic video game music such as The legend of Zelda and Pokemon? If so, please join us on our Fall Orchestra Concert this Thursday, September, 26th, at 7pm. It’ll be a fun concert and it’s completely free!”  –C. Hernandez

It’s that time again! After Fall Break, we’ll publish the next issue of Oak Ridge High School’s literary magazine, The Acorn, which is designed to showcase the creative talents of our students and staff- everything from fiction and poetry to the visual arts. Any ORHS student or staff member wishing to submit original creations for consideration in the next issue of The Acorn must email the file to wmstebbins@ortn.edu. All submissions must be received by 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26. For more detailed information, look for the flyer on the Wildcat Hangout page, in the iNews, or by emailing Mr. Stebbins.  –W. HOMECOMING DANCE – There are less than 30 Homecoming Dance tickets still available.  They will only be sold during lunch.  Once all tickets are sold, no exceptions will be made.  Tickets are $25.  The dance is on Saturday, September 28th at the DoubleTree Hotel.  Only ORHS students can attend.  –P. Tomorrow is FROYO Tasty Treat Thursday!  Where: Snack Shack in lower cafeteria.  When: right after school until 330pm. Cost is $3.00 cash in hand, or your lunch account can be used.

ORHS is collecting nonperishable food items and monetary donations for Second Harvest of East Tennessee.  We are in competition with Clinton High School.  There are bins in the main lobby and a link to send donations posted in student square.  Let’s beat Clinton on and off the field this week!        – A. AP payments have gone digital!  The Fall AP payment window is open through November 1st at 11:59pm for all students enrolled in a fall or yearlong AP course.  If you begin your AP course in January you will pay in the spring.  This year all AP exams are $101 each except for AP Seminar and Research exams which are $149 each.  If you’re taking 3 or more exams your 4th and all subsequent exams are $40 each.  If you qualify for free or reduced lunch your exams are $15 each.  If that is you, please contact jmmilligan2@ortn.edu to verify your status and receive your code before registering.  The link to pay can be found on Parent/Student Square.  – J. Tomorrow, September 26th, we have two schools visiting!  During lunch the University of Alabama in Huntsville will be in the Counseling Office.  Immediately after school we’ll have a representative from Duke University in the Counseling Office.
