SPIRIT WEEK IS FINALLY HERE! Today is Dynamic duo day! Be on the lookout for different duos in the hallway! Tomorrow is White lie vs. Red flag day, Wednesday is Meme Day, Thursday is Senior Citizen Day, and Friday is Wildcat Pride! Be sure to dress up to show your school spirit! Post your duo and make sure to tag student council on Instagram. The best dressed each day this week will receive a gift card from Student Council.

The door decoration contest starts today! Any classes can create a door to support our team this Friday and show school spirit. Doors will be judged on Thursday Sept 26th during 4th period. The winning door will receive treats for the whole class courtesy of Student Council.

Oak Ridge High School has a brand new student exchange for the year 2025. It is organized by “The Friendship Connection, Inc.”. You will host a German student in your home for three weeks in the spring and you will live with that student in Germany in the summer of 2025.

Everybody who had two years of German and is taking German 3 in the spring or who already had at least three semesters of German in the past can sign-up for this opportunity. Students who already participated in the GAPP-exchange this year are also eligible for this exchange.

Sign-up before October 31st, 2024.

Volunteer opportunity for individuals or groups!  The Atomic Man Triathlon will be held at Melton Hill Dam Campground on September 28th.  The organizers are looking for groups or individuals to volunteer to support the event.  They need help during with kayak support for the swim portion, handing out water and snacks to the runners, assisting in the bike course and clean up.  You can volunteer for the day or for a few hours.  If interested, you can get the contact information from Ms. O’Rourke in the Counseling Office.  – O’Rourke

It’s never too early to start looking at your post-secondary options.  Join us for the College & Career Fair on Monday, 9/23/24 in the Wildcat Arena from 5pm-6:30pm.  College, Military and Career representatives will be on site.   – A. King

It’s that time again! After Fall Break, we’ll publish the next issue of Oak Ridge High School’s literary magazine, The Acorn, which is designed to showcase the creative talents of our students and staff- everything from fiction and poetry to the visual arts. Any ORHS student or staff member wishing to submit original creations for consideration in the next issue of The Acorn must email the file to wmstebbins@ortn.edu. All submissions must be received by 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26. For more detailed information, look for the flyer on the Wildcat Hangout page, in the iNews, or by emailing Mr. Stebbins.  –W. Homecoming Dance Tickets are on sale now until September 27th (unless we sell out before – AND they are selling fast!) in the cafeteria during lunch.  Tickets are $25.  The dance is on Saturday, September 28th at the DoubleTree Hotel.  Only ORHS students can attend.  –P. Taylor

Not only is the College Career Fair this evening, but the University of Chicago and Butler University will both be in the Counseling Office immediately after school today!  – A. O’Rourke

It’s not too late to audition for the Masquers Showcase! Auditions are taking place TODAY and TOMORROW. You must sign up for an audition time, fill out the audition form, and come to auditions with a song to sing. Details about the auditions are in the Masquers Newsletter found on Parent Square and in the iNews weekly newsletter. The audition forms can also be found on the Masquers Office Door.
