Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Come be a part of the Friday night pageantry at Blankenship Field as a member of the ORHS Band Color Guard. No experience is necessary! Attend the Color Guard Clinic/Audition on Monday, May 13th, Tuesday, May 14th, and Thursday, May 16th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm in the ORHS Band Room. Flags, Football and Fun! All students in grades 9-12 are invited to participate. If you need more information, please call the Band Office or email mhughey@ortn.edu.  M. Hughey

Yearbook Distribution Day will be Tuesday, May 14 on a morning assembly schedule. Yearbooks will be distributed to students who have purchased them during 1st period, as students will be called by grade to the B-Gym to pick up their yearbooks. Students who have not yet purchased a book will have the opportunity to purchase one for $85, cash only, when their grade is called down. The yearbooks are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and will likely sell out as there are only 95 copies available on hand that day. No yearbooks will be sold before then, and no books will be reserved that have not already been purchased. You may email rahale@ortn.edu if you would like Ms. Hale to check and see if you have purchased a book already. After first period on May 14, no more yearbooks will be sold until 5th period on Wednesday, May 15 to give Ms. Hale time to close out her accounting procedures for the day. GET MOST HYPE EVER!! Powderpuff is TONIGHT!!! This year’s games will be held at Blankenship. The first game is Freshman vs Juniors and will start at 5:30. The entry is 5 dollars and the winner of the $500 scholarship will be announced before the championship. Come support your grade in these exciting games! A. Wagner

Masquers’ production of Anastasia has been nominated for seven Marquee Awards, including Outstanding Musical!!   Max Mishler, Emily Salko, Norah Younger, Gavin Koentop, Lex Matthews, and Kiersten Collins were nominated for top honors in their categories. The new Annual Marquee Awards are sponsored by the Tennessee Theater and will take place tomorrow May 11th at 7pm. Masquers will be represented throughout the ceremony in various performances! Come support Masquers as they represent Oak Ridge High School in this new regional celebration of the arts. Tickets are available on TicketMaster. Or email masquers@ortn.edu for more information. T. AP Testing begins this week at Roane State Community College’s Goff Building and runs through Friday, May 24th.  It is imperative that students check their school e-mail regularly for testing schedules and important announcements and updates related to testing.  If you are taking a digital test, don’t forget to charge your device and update Bluebook before test day.  J. Attention all NHS Convocation Ushers: There will be a mandatory meeting on Monday, May 13th right after school in the Auditorium to assign roles and practice for Convocation. You will receive more information from your 1st block teacher. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please see Madame Barry in CS 307. Thank you! E. Barry

Youth Pride Fest is back tomorrow Saturday, May 11, at First Presbyterian Church in Oak Ridge from Noon till 4:30. As usual, there will be games, crafts, plenty of food, and gift giveaways. Come for the fun and bring your friends. C. Milloway

SENIOR INFO

Seniors’ last day is TUESDAY, May 14th. On Tuesday, we will distribute yearbooks and turn in laptop computers.   Wednesday, May 15th is senior breakfast, Convocation and Graduation practice. (Tu – Fr 5/10) S. Thompson

Celebrate your high school graduation where it all began! Our elementary schools are eager to mark your accomplishment with a celebration at their school. Please wear your cap and gown for the celebrations.  Glenwood Cubs:  May 16 – 2pm  Celebration, 3pm – Clap Out and Pictures.  Willowbrook Bears – May 16 – arrive by 8:45am, graduation march begins at 9am.  Woodland Hawks – May 16 – arrive by 9:45am, – graduation walk begins at 10am.   Linden Lions:  May 24 – Graduation March with 4th graders – arrive at 2pm, march at 2:30pm

ATHLETICS

Any 9th, 10th or 11th graders that are interested in trying out for the 2024-2025 ORHS Boys Basketball Team should plan on attending tryouts on Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21st from 3:30-5:30pm in the Wildcat Arena.  You must have an updated physical in order to tryout.  Please see Coach Green if you have any questions.
