It’s back!! PowderBuff the boy’s Volleyball Tournament will take place on April 19th! Sign up sheets can be found in Mr. Kolodney’s Room CS 213. There will also be an informational meeting on April 5th in the Amphitheatre for anyone who’s interested.  A. Sherles

International Friends Club will be hosting the 3rd annual Dresses for Africa project TODAY, Tuesday, April 2nd from 3:15 – 5:00 in the library Makerspace.  ORHS students will partner with volunteers from the Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma to sew school dresses for girls in rural African communities.  You do not have to be an International Friends Club member to participate, but you will need to bring a signed permission slip to attend.  Please see Mrs. Golden in CS 300 to pick up a permission form, or email JHGolden@ortn.edu for a copy.  J. It’s that time of year again! Oak Ridge’s annual Powder Puff games will be played on Friday, May 10th.  For all girls interested in playing for their class, there will be an informational meeting this Wednesday, April 3rd during 3A lunch in Mrs. Wagner’s room LC311. If you want the chance to bring glory to your class and bring home the win, come join. Permission slips will be due April 12th.  A. Wagner

Class of 2025 National Honor Society Inductees: NHS Induction practice will be held in the auditorium on Wednesday, April 10, at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony is April 11, at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Please see Mr. Feuer or Dr. Thomas if you have any questions.  M. Feuer

Calling all Powderpuff participants! Sign-ups for this exciting game will be open and available after the informational meeting TODAY, Tuesday, April 2nd, in Ms. Wagner’s room, LC311 during 3A and 3B. Spots go fast to the first 20 people for each grade, so make sure you grab your paper from Mrs.Wagner’s door and turn it back in by April 12th.  A. Wagner

Class of 2024 National Honor Society Graduates: NHS hoods will be available outside CS347 April 10, during 3rd period. There’s a required $30 deposit. Please bring a check made out to ORHS National Honor Society. Do not bring cash. Mr. Feuer and Dr. Thomas will be in the main lobby during 3rd period May 20-24, to collect the hoods. When the hood is returned, the deposit will be returned. If anyone has a question or would like his or her hood before April 10, contact Mr. Feuer or Dr. Thomas.  M. Feuer

COUNSELING INFO

The Anderson County Democratic Women’s Club is sponsoring a scholarship for female seniors that are going on to a 2- or 4-year school after graduation.  A one-page essay on “Why I am a Democrat” and the completed Local Scholarship Application must be turned in to Ms. O’Rourke in the Counseling Office no later than noon on April 5th.  This $1000 scholarship is open to the three high schools in Anderson County, so it’s a great opportunity from our local community.    If you have any questions, see Ms. O’Rourke in the Counseling Office.  A. The 2023 Anderson County Farm Bureau Scholarship application can be picked up in the Counseling Office, or Ms. O’Rourke can email you a fillable PDF application.  The deadline for this application is April 5th.  A. O’Rourke

Seniors – The Team investment Group of Oak Ridge has posted their 2024 Renfro Henderson, Jr.  Memorial Scholarship.  If you lived in the Scarboro Community for a minimum of 1 year you can stop by the Counseling Office to pick up an application for the scholarship.  The deadline is April 30th.  Don’t miss this opportunity that is unique to our students!  A.
