Jazz and more Jazz! The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra is performing this Friday, May 12th, at 7:30 PM in the ORHS PAC. Our own JazzKats will be the opening act! Special guest trumpeter Jim Hynes – locally of Bud’s Coffee Shop and an internationally renowned trumpeter – will step in with the JazzKats and the KJO. Congratulations to Gus Morrill and Matthew Holliman, this year’s recipients of the two $500 ORHS National Honor Society Scholarships. Gus will be continuing his education this fall at Middlebury College majoring in English and journalism. Matthew will be attending The University of Chicago. His major is undecided. (W,Th 5/11)
Come be a part of the Friday night pageantry at Blankenship Field as a member of the ORHS Band Color Guard. No experience is necessary! Attend the Color Guard Clinic/Audition starting this Saturday, May 13th, from 2-6pm in the ORHS Band Room. Flags, Football and Fun! All students in grades 9-12 are invited to participate. The Oak Ridge Student Council is offering a $500 scholarship to any senior who has had an impact on the student body. Deadline to apply is TODAY, Wednesday, and a short essay will be required so be sure to apply as quickly as possible, link to the scholarship is on the Wildcat Student Hangout in Canvas. (W 5/10) A. COUNSELING INFO
Attention Juniors! The Green McAdoo Cultural Organization is offering current juniors a scholarship opportunity for a one-time payment of $1,200! There will be one winner chosen from ORHS, along with a winner from each of several area schools. If you are interested, stop by the Counseling Office to pick up the prompt and submission information. The submission is due May 31st. (W 5/17)
ATHLETICS
We are having 2 girls soccer interest meetings for the upcoming 2023 summer/fall season in May. For all current 9-11 graders if you plan to play this fall, I need you to attend at least 1 meeting. The meetings will be right after school on Friday May 12 at 3:30 pm and Tuesday May 16 at 3:30 pm. These meetings will be in the food court upper level.
