The Spring Musical “Into the Woods” is 8 days away! Do you have your tickets for this beloved story? Shows are Mar 4-6: Friday at 7, Saturday at 2 and 7, and Sunday at 2. Advance tickets are $8 and are available from a Masquer, Mr. Moreno’s class, or the Bookstore. Don’t miss the biggest show in Masquer History.
JUNIORS, the application forms for the Spring Induction into National Honor Society at ORHS will be available in the Media Center starting on Monday, February 28th. You must have 3.6 GPA after the end of this third quarter as well as a good behavior record with the school administration. The application will allow you to explain your service and leadership roles at ORHS or in the community. Pick up an application and return it to the Media Center by 3:15pm on Friday, March 11th to be considered for membership. Those who are accepted for membership after the screening process will receive invitations by Wednesday, April 13th. (2/25, 2/28) – K. Senter
Do you want an opportunity to win a cash award and investigate the Scarboro 85 during Black History month? The local chapter of the NAACP is sponsoring a Black History Month Trivia Contest. Mrs. Thompson has sent contest information to your school email. Submissions will be due to the Counseling Office by March 11th. – Ms. Thompson
CLUB INFORMATION
The ORHS Key Club is hosting their annual diaper drive to support TORCH, a local charity that works with homeless individuals. To donate, see Mr. Schoolcraft in LC224 or a Key Club member.
The ORHS Key Club, in partnership with other schools in the area, is hosting a donation drive for the Ronald McDonald House in Knoxville. The Ronald McDonald House is in need of items such as cereals, breakfast bars, ranch dressing, non-dairy creamers, Ramen noodles, chips, and various snacks. Come to Mrs. Bauman’s room on Thursday, February 24th at 3 : 10 in LC 318, to learn about a new ORHS Club. The ORHS League of Teens is a group to learn how to protect our democracy and rights through democratic channels. This is a non- partisan group. The League of Women Voters are our sponsor. More than 100 years ago, they met, lead informational sessions for women’s suffrage and were successful in passing the 19th Amendment, allowing women the right to vote. Today, they continue to share current concerns that impact all of us, Teach us how to make our voices heard, and gain information from speakers that are instrumental in creating change.Join us to voice your concerns about proposed restrictions from the Tennessee Legislature on Education, Banned Books, and other social issues that are a part of our changing culture. Course Registration for the 2022-2023 school year starts soon! The 2022-2023 Academic Planning Guide is now available on the desktop of all student laptops. Detailed registration information will be shared with students during Seminars on February 22, 2022. In the meantime, students can access their graduating class Canvas page for all important registration documents. These documents will also be emailed to families through Skyward Messages.
