CLUB INFO

 

IRC is an awesome club!  Do you like debating, geography, or politics? Join International Relations Club in room LC 326 every Thursday right after school and solve real world issues with our model UN.  We meet weekly from 3:10 until around 4.  Snacks are provided.  Join us for fun and experience  with debating and analyzing world conflicts.  (8/12,819,8/26) – B. Hallo!  The German Club will be meeting for the first informational meeting this year on Tuesday the 17th right after school at 3:15 pm in Ms Nebenfuehr’s room CS 301.

Everybody is welcome! Especially students who had German in the past and do not have a German class at the moment.  Don’t wait a semester before you continue with German. Come to German Club and spend time with friends doing German stuff like eating cake, chilling and talking!  And if you want, we can have a Duolingo competition too! (Th, M, Tu 8.17) – S. The YuGi-Oh! Club will meet on Fridays until 5 pm in Dr. Colquitt’s room. Bring your cards to CS 235 and be ready to duel! (F) – R. Colquitt

 

The Future Business Leaders of America Club, otherwise known as FBLA, will have a meeting on Tuesday, August 17th @ 7:15 a.m. for all students interested in being officers this year.  Breakfast snacks will be served, and all are welcome.  The August 17th meeting will be held in Mrs. Stalliard’s Room CS 345 at 7:15 a.m. (M)  C. Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet on Friday morning at 7:10 AM at Providence House across from the Wildcat Arena parking lot.  FCA serves athletes, coaches and all they influence – that would be almost all of us.  Robert Schomer from Central Baptist Church will be our speaker on Friday, and, as always, chicken biscuits, donuts and chocolate milk will be served.  So come for a Bible message and breakfast treat on Fridays at 7:10 at Providence House. The ORHS Key Club will host its first meeting of the year on Thursday, August 12 at 3:15 P.M. in Mr. Schoolcraft’s room, LC224. If you are looking for ways to serve your community, the Key Club is the place to be! All current and prospective members are welcome to attend. It is the real thing!  See Mr. Shaffer LC 316 or Mrs. Bauman in LC 318 for  more information. (8.12)

COUNSELING INFORMATION

 

We will have a representative from Mississippi State University visiting our school on Wednesday, August 18th during lunch.  They will be in the Main Lobby to share information and answer questions regarding their school.  Stop by and learn what opportunities they have to offer! The Annual Military Service Academy Day will be 10am, Saturday, August 28th at UTC University Center.  The event is intended to provide information about Military Academies to students who may have a desire to become a Military Officer, and to familiarize those students with the qualifications necessary for acceptance.  The Academy Day event will give students a chance to interact with representatives from all of the Military Academies and ROTC Leadership.  For further information, Cindy Boshears by phone: 865-576-1976 or by email: cindy.boshears@mail.house.gov  (T,Th – 8/28) – A. SENIOR INFORMATION

 

Senior Seminars will be on Tuesday, August 24th with the seniors during the school day.  The counseling office will have a virtual meeting on Teams, Tuesday, August 31st, for parents to go over senior information.

 

Seniors, are you interested in the University of Virginia?  The Jefferson Scholarship provides the entire cost of attendance, and many supplemental enrichment experiences, at the University of Virginia.  If you are interested to be ORHS’s nominee for this scholarship submit a resume and a personal statement as to why you should be chosen to Ms. Taylor by Friday, October 29th.
