The Wildcats for Change Club started an ambassador program last year, to welcome students to our school. We are currently accepting applications for 10th-12th graders who would be willing to be paired with a new student to help them feel welcome at ORHS.
9th graders, we will accept applications from your grade after Winter break.

Yearbooks are on sale at the lowest price of the year. Buy one at balfour.com OR pick up a form outside of Ms. Hale’s room (CS328) and return your check or cash to her. They are only $65 right now! Prices will increase the first time on September 30.  (8/2-8/6) – R. Hale

Masquers is back for another fun filled and highly dramatic year.  Our Special Informational meeting will be next Monday August 9.  From 3:15- 4:30.  This meeting is not just for kids who want a chance to be on stage but for EVERYONE.  We need costumers, props, sound people, lights people, and set people.  Let the fun begin!! The Future Business Leaders of America Club, otherwise known as FBLA, will have a meeting on Tuesday, August 17th @ 7:15 a.m. for all students interested in being officers this year.  Breakfast snacks will be served, and all are welcome.  The August 17th meeting will be held in Mrs. Stalliard’s Room CS 345 at 7:15 a.m. (8/3-8/5) – C. Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a non-denominational Christian organization that seeks to reach and serve a school’s athletes, coaches, and all they influence (that would be almost all students).  At Oak Ridge High School, FCA takes the form of a 15 to 25 minute devotional that is led by Christian youth leaders offered on Friday mornings at 7:10 at Providence House across the street from the Wildcat Arena parking lot.  Breakfast biscuits and donuts are served.  So if you are interested in starting your Friday with a message from the Bible and a yummy treat, come check it out at Providence House on Friday at 7:10.  This week’s speaker will be Thomas Cox from Christ Community Church and Young Life.  (8/4-8/6) – T. The first meeting of the National Honor Society will be in LC326 after school on Monday, August 9th, from 3:15 to 4:00pm. All members must attend to help organize after-school tutoring through the new Operation Restoration program at ORHS. We will also discuss the community outreach service project Mr. Senter mentioned at last year’s induction ceremony. (8/5-8/6) – K. Senter

 

Do you like science? Would you like to test your knowledge against others? Join Science Bowl on Tuesdays and Wednesdays right after school in LC 105.  (8/5-8/11) – S. Thomas

 

Bell schedule cards are available in the Main Office, Student Services and the Counseling Office.  These cards fit inside your badge holder for quick reference.  Be sure they go behind your ID badge and not in front of your picture. (8/5-8/12) – T. Seals

Senior Information

 

Employers have open positions for the Business Academy Work-Based Learning (Co-op) Program. If you are a senior, have taken Business courses, and can co-op 5th period and after school, please see Mrs. Ledden in CS347. Remember, you get course credit and get paid; off work by 5:00 p.m. and no weekends! (8/2, 8/3, 8/5) – T. Ledden

 

Senior parents, now is the time to purchase a senior ad for the back of the yearbook—you know the ones—cute baby photo next to grown senior photo with some sweet words of congratulations? Just like the yearbooks, you can order online at balfour.com or through Ms. Hale’s forms outside her classroom door. If you order online, you have the option to have Ms. Hale design it for you or to design it entirely yourself! These are only available to order through November 1! (8/2-8/6) – R. Hale

 

 

 

ATHLETIC INFORMATION

 

Anyone is interested in being on the swim team needs to text Coach Hodge or go by his room LC114 and let him know.  There is a mandatory swimmer’s meeting on Thursday, Aug. 5 during your lunch period in Coach Hodge’s room. (8/2-8/5) – C. Hodge

 

If you are interested in throwing the shot put or the discus in the Spring, and you are not involved in a fall or winter sport, please come meet with Coach Froning, Coach VanBerkle and other throwers for 15 minutes in Coach Froning’s room, CS229, on Friday, August 6th at 3:15.

Off-season weight lifting and throwing routines will be discussed at this meeting.
