Student Council is hosting Wildcat Week! Theme days will take place May 17th-21st and will conclude with a Powderpuff Football Game at Blankenship field. All female ORHS students are welcome to sign up for a powder puff team. Signups are due April 23rd and should be submitted to Mrs. Wagner in LC331, and teams will be announced on the same date. The City of Oak Ridge Youth Advisory Board is accepting applications for the 2021-2022 term of office. The Board is comprised of sixteen (16) students, all of whom are required to be residents of the City of Oak Ridge. All members are appointed and confirmed by City Council to serve a one-year term of office commencing on August 1st. Apply using the link below by the June 4, 2021 deadline. Senior Information
Seniors who have NOT completed their Work Ethic Distinction form, should begin this process ASAP. The deadline has been extended to May 1st. The Oak Ridge Schools Board of Education has approved the attainment of a Work Ethic Distinction for the first time in 2020. What it entails is students providing a certificate to potential employers that they have been demonstrating desirable work skills. What are the next steps? Download the form, complete the form then deliver the completed form to Dr. Cross in CS244 or send electronically to hcross@ortn.edu. The application form is available in the school counseling office or via this link: www.ortn.edu/Curriculum/CCTE/Work_Ethic.pdf.
A representative from Lincoln University (located in Jefferson City, MO) will host a virtual college visit on April 27th at 3:15pm. Seniors, do you need service hours for TN Promise: Emory Heights Neighborhood Clean-Up Service Opportunity is on Saturday, April 24 from 9AM to 12 NOON. Keep Anderson County Beautiful will supply gloves, trash bags and grabber sticks. We will have bottled water and snacks available for volunteers. Registration and parking will be at the corner lot at Warehouse and Coal Yard Roads. We want to clean up along those roads as much as possible. – S. Thompson
