The 2021-2022 Oak Ridge High School Academic Planning Guide (APG) is now available on our school’s website under Curriculum in the Academics tab. You may also access it via this link. The guide is also now on student and teacher desktops.
This document contains all you need to know about the new block schedule, graduation requirements, academic policies and procedures, and the course catalog.
There will be a virtual Town Hall meeting to discuss block scheduling in general on Thursday, February 25th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Be on the lookout for more information on how to register coming soon.
Starting this week, teachers are having conversations with students about course offerings and their recommendations for students for next year. Counselors will meet with students during the first two weeks of March to go over how to register for classes, graduation requirements, and course offerings. Students will receive registration forms during these meetings. We will host a Q&A session for parents via Zoom on Thursday, March 11th from 6:00-7:30 pm.
Students will meet with counselors to turn in their registration forms with their course selections during the two weeks following Spring Break. If you have questions about 2021-2022 registration, please contact your school counselor. 2/15-2/23) – A. Roberts
Today is the last day!! Calling all Visual Artists and Poets: Oak Ridge elementary, middle and high school students are invited to create works of art & poetry inspired by the Scarboro 85 and honoring the 65th anniversary of the Historic Oak Ridge School Desegregation. The Competition theme is: “Honoring the Struggle, Celebrating the Triumphs & Inspiring the Future”. The entry form and guidelines will be available to print from the Wildcat Daily Bulletin (you can find a link to these in your school email). All entries due by February 19, 2021. (M, Th – 2/19)
Oak Ridge High School Student Council will be hosting an event to interview members of the Scarboro 85 on February 24th. The interview will include ten of the Scarboro 85 along with ten Oak Ridge High Student Council members. The zoom meeting will be an open formatted discussion where the students will ask a series of questions to gather a better understanding of the 85’s experience. The event will be recorded and then published later that day on the school’s website and the Canvas Hang Out Page for students following the zoom. Oak Ridge High School has expressed that the story of the Scarboro 85 cannot be shared enough and should be broadcasted for others to hear. (2/19-2/26) – A. Wagner
The term 3 School Wide Student Council meeting will take place in the second period on Thursday February 25th for all representatives. Be sure to bring your class concerns and make your voices heard! (2/19-2/25) –A. Wagner
Oak Ridge High School Student Council presents Wildcats’ Got Talent! On February 26th, Oak Ridge’s virtual talent show will be livestreamed on STUCO’s YouTube channel and through the Wildcat Hangout Canvas page at 7:00 PM. Come virtually and support your multi-talented peers and MCs Jaxon Adams, Trent Howe, Blake Pinchback, and Vinny West. You’ll also get the opportunity to vote live on the People’s Choice Award. Our Spring AP exam payment collection will be from March 1 to March 5. We will be set up in the food court during lunch to accept your payment. During this time you will be able to pay off your remaining balance for any exam you have already ordered. You will also be able to order an exam for the first time for any Spring semester AP course. You will also be able to order an exam for any other AP course if you missed the order deadline in the Fall. If you missed the Fall deadline, College Board will charge an additional $40 late fee for each exam.
Exams remain $95/exam. If you are taking four or more exams, the fourth and subsequent exams are $40/exam. Research and Seminar exams are $143 each. If you are on free and reduced lunch status, exams are $15/exam.
Please make checks payable to Oak Ridge High School. Please put the student name and the exam name(s) on the Memo line to ensure that the payment is applied correctly.

ATHLETIC INFORMATION
On Friday evening, ORHS Lady Wildcats will be hosting the Lady Dragons from Clinton @ 7:00 in the Wildcat Arena. Lobby doors will open @ 6:00. The Arena will open @ 6:30. Tickets are $6.00 for all attendees. The Lady Wildcats will also play on Monday, February 22 @ 7:00.
On Saturday, ORHS Wildcats will be playing the winner of Thursday night’s game between Karns and Campbell County. Tip-off is @ 7:00. Lobby doors will open @ 6:00. The Arena will open @ 6:30. Tickets are $6.00 for all attendees. The Wildcats will also play on Tuesday, February 23 @ 7:00.

The Counseling Office is an excellent resource for scholarship opportunities!! There are scholarships specific to ORHS students, through the East Tennessee Foundation and other local groups. Private corporate scholarships and scholarship search engines that will help you find opportunities for nearly every interest and post-high school education option. There is even information on career exploration and summer opportunities at some amazing schools.
