Welcome to February, the month known as Black History Month. There are many things we commonly use that were invented by African American inventors…

  • If you have a color monitor for your PC, you have Mark Dean to thank. He co-invented this in 1980.
  • Have you heard of a Gigahertz chip? Again, Mark Dean co0intented this in 1999.
  • Have you ever been on an elevator? Thank Alexander Miles for inventing the automatic elevator doors in 1887.
  • If you have purchased anything cold from the grocery store, thank Frederick McKinley Jones for inventing the refrigerated truck in 1940.

Stay tuned next week for more Black History facts!  (Th,F) – R. Colquitt
