COUNSELING INFORMATION
If you are interested in being nominated for the University of Dayton’s Leadership in Service Scholarship, turn in a resume and personal statement as to why you would like to be nominated to Ms. Taylor by Friday, October 23rd.
If you are interested in being considered for nomination for NC State’s Park Scholarship (a 4-year scholarship valued at $203,000) contact Ms. Taylor by the end of the day Wednesday, October 14th. The John M. Belk Scholarship, at Davidson College, recognizes powerful students with demonstrated academic excellence, integrity, intellectual curiosity, willingness to take risks, and potential to be change agents in both their local and global communities. If you are interested in being nominated this four-year scholarship, turn in a resume and personal statement as to why you would like to be nominated to Ms. Taylor by Friday, November 6th.
University of Alabama – Huntsville is hosting a Charger Meet-Up in Knoxville on November 9th. Charger Meet-Ups are designed for prospective current high school seniors and their families to meet with a UAH Admissions representative and receive more information about UAH, the admissions process, freshman scholarships, and more! Students can meet me in-person and bring up to two additional guests. Email Ms. Campbell (akcampbell@ortn.edu) for the registration link.
Applications for the 2021 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards are now open. Students who have volunteered over the past year can apply for the 2021 award at https://spirit.prudential.com/
Qualifying certified applicants will be eligible to win a $1,000 scholarship. If you are interested, apply on the website then email Ms. Taylor, letting her know that you have applied.
GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL – Any Junior or Sophomore interested in attending Governor’s School 2021, please come by the School Counseling office before Tuesday, October 20th to pick up the guidelines and instructions on how to apply. The Oak Ridge High School Counseling Department is very excited to announce our upcoming Virtual College Admissions Evening! This will take place on Tuesday, October 13th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. Admissions Representatives from Vanderbilt University, The University of Tennessee, and Roane State Community College will speak about the differences in admissions at 4 year private universities, 4 year public universities and 2 year colleges. Vanderbilt, UT and Roane State will each give a presentation and then there will be a Q&A session with families. We hope you will be able to join us for this informative meeting. The meeting is primarily aimed at Class of 2021 families but all families are welcome to attend. You must register in advance for the Zoom meeting. Calling all artists! We have received no designs for the Class of 2021 senior signature shirt. Please turn in designs to Mrs. Ledden in CS347 by Friday, October 16.
