The ASVAB Test will be administered @ Oak Ridge High School on Thursday, September 19, 2019 @ 8:00 a.m. in the Amphitheater. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program can help you take steps now toward finding a career that’s right for you. You can benefit from the Program whether you plan to pursue further education right after high school or enter the workforce right away. The programis designed to help you:  learn more about yourself and the world or work, explore occupations in line with your interests and skills, and develop an effective strategy to realize your career goals.  .  Students must sign up in Student Services by Monday,Sept. 16th– (8.30  9/4,9,16) C. Do you want to win breakfast for your class? Do you enjoy food? Well if so this contest is for you and your fourth period. Student councilis hosting a pep video contest. This contest is a way for you and your class to show off some school spirit and win some food for your fourth period. Videos should range from 30 seconds to a minute and must be submitted in MP4 format. Take advantage of thisopportunity to boost homecoming spirit as we take on the Clinton Dragons on September 27th.  Ask your fourth period teacher for more information.  (M,W.F) – A. Wagner

Senior Superlatives are now available for final voting!  All seniors please log into Skyward and find your message. You will find a link to a google form to vote for the final boys and girls in each category.  Voting will be open fromMonday through Friday at 3pm. (M,W,F) – R. Byrd

ACT Prep: If you took the practice math and science tests on August 28, come to the Amphitheatre on Wednesday, September 18, to look at how you can improve your scores and open more doors. Dr. Thomas and Ms. Hondorf will  focuson science from 3:00-3:30, and Dr. Vaughn will focus on math from 3:30-4:00. You’ll want to get to the Amphitheatre a little early so you can pick up your scored answer sheets and a copy of the test. (Tu) – A. Etheridge

Jostens will take orders for class rings and graduation supplies in the Main Lobby and the Arena Concessions’ Kiosk tomorrow during lunch. Mrs. Ledden does not accept orders. Please turn in your order to the Jostens representative ateither location during 5th period. Any student needing a class ring or graduation supplies packet should come to CS347. $60 deposit required for both graduation supply orders and class rings. (M) – T. Ledden

CLUB INFO

Every Wednesday, Masquers hosts an Actors Workshop.  This is for all ORHS students whether they are involved with Masquers or not.  The goal is to sharpen your skills for the upcoming auditions for THE LITTLE MERMAID in December.  The Workshop is every Wednesday from 2-3:30 in Ms. Ragan’s room.  The workshop is taught by a professional actor and director, Amy Uptgraft, a new member of the Masquers Community Team. (9/9-9/30, MT) – V. COUNSELING INFO

An admissions representative from South College will be in the cafeteria on Friday, September 20th.(Tu, Th) – A. Campbell

Saturday, September 21st, Roane State will be hosting an HBCU Expo from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Students from 7th-12th grades can attend along with parents/guardians.  Sessions will include on-the-spot scholarships, ACT and SAT Prep Strategies, Financial Aid and Independence, and Staying safe on college campuses. Step and Stroll performances and job/military recruiters are also part of the day. SENIOR INFO

SENIOR SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST:  Please submit your designs for the Class of 2020 Senior Shirt to Mrs. Ledden in Room CS347 by Wednesday, September 18. You do not have to be a senior to submit designs for the shirt—open to all grade levels.

We need a front design and a back design.  Each of these designs is a separate “contest”.  Prizes for each contest are as follows:  Front – $25; Back – $25.

Be sure to incorporate ORHS, Seniors, and Class of 2020 into your drawings.  Place your name and homeroom teacher’s name on the back of each design entry.  Entries must be original work and if selected, will become the property of Oak Ridge High School. (Selection committee reserves the right to combine two or more designs in which case each person will receive prize money.)  (9/3,5,9,12,16) T. Ledden
