Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Students who still owe a balance on their AP Exams: we will be in the main office taking payments during lunch and after school this Wednesday/afternoon.  Please check your school email for a message from Mrs. Roberts. (M, W) – A. Roberts

Did they ACT drain your brain? Jumpstart your mental batteries with some free NHS tutoring from Jasleen Narula and Audrey Rodriguez on Thursday from 3:15 to 3:50 in the Counseling Center. (Th) K. Senter

 

All AP Physics students should report to LC 327 at the beginning of 2nd period on Thursday, April 4th for the AAPT Physics Bowl exam. The test will last through 3rd period and you will need a pencil and a calculator. (M,W) – B. Hondorf

 

Anyone wishing to take the Geometry test to qualify for the Tennessee State Math Exam should sign up with their Geometry teacher. The test will be given on Wednesday, 4/3/19, in the Amphitheater at 2pm.  The test is 40 minutes long. (W 4.3) – J. Zimprich

Tryouts for the ORHS cheer team are quickly approaching! If you are interested in trying out for the team, clinics will be held April 8th, 9th, 11th, and 12th in the arena at 3:30 each day. PROM INFO

 

Tickets to Prom 2019, Living Behind the Mask: a Met Gala, will be on Pre-Order April 3rd -5th  in the Arena Kiosk during 5th period at the pre-order cost of $30 for singles and $60 for couples.  Tickets will be on sale April 22nd -25th  during 5th period at the price of $40 for singles and $80 for couples. Tickets WILL NOT be sold Friday April 26th or Saturday April 27th.  All tickets are NON-TRANSFERABLE and NON-REFUNDABLE.

 

If your date is not a current ORHS student you must complete a Guest Application form found in Student Affairs or with Ms. Eidam in LC 313.  All forms must be completed and turned in with a copy of the guest’s ID to Student Services by April 24th.

 

 

Promposal contest. Did you ask your date to prom in a creative way? Would you like to win a pair of tickets to Living Behind the Mask: a Met Gala?  Send pictures or video of your promposal with a short explanation of your proposal to Ms. Eidam at seidam@ortn.edu by April 16th.  The winner will receive a free pair of tickets to Prom 2019 or a refund if they had already pre-ordered their tickets. Junior and Senior Girls– are you in need of a prom dress?  The ORHS Prom Closet will be open during the following dates and times:  Lunch 5a & 5B  March 29, April 1, April 5, April 9 and April 11  /  After school until 3:45 April 4, April 8, April 9, April 11 & April 15!

Attention seniors – if you have 10 or more community service hours for the current school year, please turn your form in to the counselor’s office by Friday, April 12th. (M,W,F 4.12) L. Wendt

 

Any senior who wants to try out to speak at either graduation or convocation needs to contact Mrs. Flanders in CS316 or at  gcflanders@ortn.edu by Wednesday afternoon (April 3) after school. (W) – G. Flanders

Seniors who have not ordered a cap & gown set: order online at https://www.jostens.com/. If you have difficulty locating the individual cap & gown unit for $55, please see Mrs. Ledden in CS347. Extra tassels ($10) and announcements ($1.25 each) are available from Mrs. Ledden in CS347. Announcements are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, but they may also still be ordered online. Announcements come with two envelopes–inner and outer. Use both! The inner envelope (a little smaller and does not seal) is for informal names such as Uncle Kevin and Aunt Teresa. The outer envelope (a little larger and does seal) is for the formal name such as Mr. & Mrs. Kevin Ledden and the address.  (M,W 4.3) – T. Ledden

Academy graduates receive a bachelor’s degree in their field of study and become commissioned Officers in their respective branch of service. Think you’ve got what it takes? Learn more at Congressman Chuck Fleischmann’s 2018 Academy Day on Saturday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga University Center. Would you like to earn community service hours? Are you looking to gain experience in sports, hospitality, and guest relations? UT is recruiting student workers to work the Orange & White Game on 4/13 with the opportunity to continue into the upcoming football season. This is a great way for any students to earn volunteer hours, get paid, and learn some of the fun-filled game-day operations in the premium spaces of Neyland Stadium.
