Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin

STUDENT INFO

Boy’s Soccer will have an interest meeting and open play on Friday beginning at 4 pm in the locker room. (F) – T. Gorman

 

A reminder to those taking the ACT here on Saturday, there is now a 5th test that all those testing take except for those with accommodations. Plus Writing students take all five tests AND the plus writing portion so they will not be finished until 1:30. This 5th test is now a part of every Saturday test and ACT added the fifth test this year. (F) – K. Rowland

 

For the next two weeks, students who have been assigned to Closed Campus in the B-Gym, will be meeting in WC131, Coach Sampson’s class.  Students are expected to be on time.  ((M) – C. Wilson

 

CLUB INFO

 

Philosophy Club returns this Friday after school in Mr. Pickering’s room (LC322) for a discussion on political philosophy. Everyone is welcome!  (F) – A. Pickering

The FBLA Club will have their next meeting on Tuesday, October 30th  at 7:15 a.m.  Snacks will be served.  Please turn in your applications with your $10 dues at that time.  The club will meet in Ms. Stalliard’s room CS 345. (M) – C. Stalliard

 

Can people disagree with one another without resorting to ad hominem attack, to name-calling, to appeals to fear? Come find out at the organizational meeting for the new Debate Club. We aim to argue rationally and reasonably about a variety of topics. Meet in CS 336 (Mr. Etheridge’s room) on Tuesday, October 30, from 3:15-3:45 to organize.  (10/24-10/30) – A. Etheridge

 

 

SENIOR INFO

 

Seniors: This coming Tuesday, October 30th is your ACT Senior Re-take test. Testing locations are posted around campus so please double check to make sure your name is on a roster and where your testing room is for Tuesday. Be at your testing room NO LATER THAN 7:45 Tuesday morning with your school ID or driver’s license, an ACT-approved calculator (TI-89 is NOT approved for this test), #2 non-mechanical pencils and a snack for break (optional). Do NOT bring your cell phone, smart watches, watches with alarms, fitness bands or other electronic devices into the testing room PER ACT! You will be dismissed to go home for the remainder of the day after testing has been completed for all rooms (except those with extended time).  Students with testing accommodations over multiple days will have their schedules given to them.  (M) – K. Seniors: place your order for the senior signatures shirts and sweats during lunch in the Concessions’ Kiosk at the Wildcat Arena next week during lunch, October 29-November 2. You may also give Mrs. Ledden your order in CS347. Checks should be made payable to ORHS. (F) – T. Ledden

 

 

 

 

COUNSELING INFO

 

The 2019 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards application is now available online. If you have had extensive volunteer hours and would like to apply, go to spirit.prudential.com or nassp.org/spirit. State winners receive $1,000 and national winners receive $5,000 for their school and another $5,000 for a non-proift charitable organization of their choice. You must complete the application by Tuesday, November 6th. Oak Ridge HS can select one school recipient to forward onto the state competition. The state winners move on to the national competition.
