Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin
STUDENT INFO
Students – Don’t forget to invite your parents to PTSO Open House on Thursday evening. Families are welcome to visit the cafeteria starting at 5:30 pm to browse a collection of student clubs. Each organization will have a table set up to highlight their activity and will have a representative onsite to share information. Concessions will be available for purchase. At 6:00 pm, Principal McDonald will present a welcome address in the Auditorium. At approximately 6:20 pm your parents can follow your schedule to visit classrooms and meet your teachers. It is requested each family bring a copy of their student’s class schedule with them. The event ends at 8:00 pm. – T. Seals
Students: you are REQUIRED to wear your ID badge to school every day. The City of Oak Ridge has provided every student with a badge, a cover, and a lanyard for wearing it to school. Badges are a key card to the building and used to pay for lunch; therefore, it is vital they report it when lost. Students who lose their badge are required to replace it. The cost is $5.00. Given the current state of school safety, this is a requirement. (7/31-8/10 T,Th) – S. Thompson
Students who drive to school: A new parking tag is REQUIRED every year – regardless of whether the car is parked on the street or one of the surrounding churches. Tags this year are GRAY! Please make sure you register your vehicle for a parking tag in Student Services. (7/31-8/10 T, Th) – S. Thompson

Are you interested in learning more about emotional and mental health issues in schools today? And, are you interested in learning how to assist and support your fellow high school students? Oak Ridge High School is pleased to announce that we will be partnering with the Teens for Contact program. Teens for Contact is a program designed to train teens in the areas of suicide support, mental health awareness, and the emotional well-being of peers. Training and ongoing mentoring will be provided early on, and the group will meet on a weekly and/or bi-weekly basis.
Oak Ridge High School students spoke up last year via the Counseling Department’s student survey and mental health was one of the top concerns among respondents. Teens for Contact will provide participants with the training and skills to have a positive and direct impact on the overall emotional well-being of our school.
If you are interested there will be an informational meeting on Monday 8/13 at 3:15 in the Counseling Department’s College and Career Room.
