Oak Ridge High School Daily Bulletin
STUDENT INFO
Attention juniors and seniors: Would you have liked to participate in work-based learning this year, but mistakes in the past caused you to be too far behind on credits to do so during school? Would you benefit from work place experience supported by a job coach and a personal mentor? Do you like giving back to your community? If so, check out Career Pathways. This program places students like you in a paying after-school job at a non-profit organization in our community for a 9-week period. You could earn up to $900, and there is opportunity to extend your job placement into subsequent grading periods. There are even scholarship opportunities for employees upon high school graduation. Applicants must be available to work afterschool, some weekends, and over fall break starting August 20. Applications are available in Student Services and are due back by this Friday, August 3rd. For more information, contact Ms. Roberts. (7/30-8/1) – A. Roberts
Yearbooks are already available for purchase two ways. You may purchase a yearbook online at www.balfour.com, or you may pick up a form outside of Ms. Byrd’s room, CS328, in the English hallway, and turn the money in to her personally or to the front office. Senior ads are also available for purchase online or via the form. Remember, yearbook prices are as low as they are going to get for the whole year–$65—for a 250+ page book. You can also pay a deposit of $30 and lock in the lowest rate of the year as long as you finish payments by January 31! As upperclassmen can attest, our yearbooks are awesome, so don’t miss out! (7/30-8/1) – R. Byrd
Please do not park on the yellow lined “field” on the food court/front of school parking lot. It is located on the side closest to the turnpike. This is the WildBand practice field on campus. Thanks! – M. Hughey
Students: you are REQUIRED to wear your ID badge to school every day. The City of Oak Ridge has provided every student with a badge, a cover, and a lanyard for wearing it to school. Badges are a key card to the building and used to pay for lunch; therefore, it is vital they report it when lost. Students who lose their badge are required to replace it. The cost is $5.00. Given the current state of school safety, this is a requirement. (7/31-8/10 T,Th) – S. Thompson
Students who drive to school: A new parking tag is REQUIRED every year – regardless of whether the car is parked on the street or one of the surrounding churches. Tags this year are GRAY! Please make sure you register your vehicle for a parking tag in Student Services. (7/31-8/10 T, Th) – S. Thompson
