STUDENT INFO
Want to practice your language skills? Would you like to travel on a bullet train or have dinner on the Eiffel Tower? Would you like to learn how to cook paella or chocolate mousse? Are you interested in how swords or wine are made? Would you like to see a flamenco show or a sound and light show at one of the largest theme parks in Europe? Do all this and more during the two-week trip to Spain and France this summer. There will be a meeting August 31 at 6:30 in the ORHS Amphitheater for all students interested in traveling to Europe this summer AND for those students who are already enrolled on the trip. Hello und guten Tag Did you learn German? Do you learn German? Then here is an opportunity of your lifetime: A German- American Student exchange. We will have our first informational meeting for this German-American student exchange on August 30, 2017 in the Library classroom LC 234 at 6:00 pm. Any student interested on serving on the Superintendent’s Student Council may pick up an application in
Student Services and return it back in by Monday, September 11 by 3:30 pm. – This Council meets with the Superintendent monthly (as the schedule permits) on the 3rd Thursday of the month. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the School Administration Building conference room from 3:15-4:15 p.m. (Tu,Th 9.11) – C. Wilson
BUS INFO
Bus 351: Due to a shortage of drivers – the Wednesday bus run will run as a second route every Wednesday until further notice. Students who ride this bus will need to report to the top tier of the food court to wait on bus, which should arrive at approximately 2:20.
Bus 1938 – Students who ride bus 1938 will now be riding bus 1957 for the remainder of the year – same route but with a new bus #.
Bus 1944 – For Tuesday and Thursday of this week, 8/29 & 8/31, students who ride Bus 1944 will be riding on a second route. Students who ride this bus will need to report to the top tier of the food court to wait on bus, which should arrive at approximately 3:40. (Th, 8/31) – A. Roberts

Are you a Junior or Senior that is interested in a unique scholarship opportunity? The United States Senate Youth Program offers an annual Washington Week event in March, which includes a variety of events that promote a unique understanding of the structure of our national government. The Hearst Foundation also offers selected state finalists a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship. CLUB & ORGANIZATION INFO
English Language Learner Friends (ELLF) will begin with an informational meeting and training with the Willow Brook staff today, Tuesday, August 29th at 3:30 in the Library at Willow Brook. Students need to sign in upon arriving and then report to the library. The ELLF students will actually begin coming the following week on September 5. SENIOR SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST: Please submit your designs for the Class of 2018 Senior Shirt to Mrs. Ledden in Room CS347 by Tuesday, September 12. You do not have to be a senior to submit designs for the shirt—open to all grade levels. We need a front design and a back design. Each of these designs is a separate “contest”. Prizes for each contest are as follows: Front – $25; Back – $25. Be sure to incorporate ORHS, Seniors, and Class of 2018 into your drawings. Place your name and homeroom teacher’s name on the back of each design entry. Entries must be original work and if selected, will become the property of Oak Ridge High School.
