CLUB & ORGANIZATION INFO
The YuGi-Oh! Club will have its first meeting of the school year on Friday, August 11. We meet in Dr. Colquitt’s room, CS 235, until 5 pm each week. This club is open to all students and is free of charge. Bring your cards and be ready to duel! (8/7, 8/8, 8/10, 8/11) – R. Colquitt
Small Talk is a club that is sponsored by Dr. Colquitt and addresses real issues that you will face after high school. Last year, we had ORHS graduates come in and talk to us about college life, living on a college campus, choosing a major, and how to manage your time. We also took field trips to visit the campuses of Roane State, Pellissippi State, UT-Knoxville, and East Tennessee State University. We made our own resume and discussed ways to prepare for the ACT. If you are interested in participating in the Small Talk club, please stop by Dr. Colquitt’s classroom, CS 235, to let her know which day of the week would work best with your schedule. Our first official meeting will be scheduled based on the responses. (8/7, 8/10) – R. Colquitt
Would you like to improve your problem solving skills? Would you like to be a part of the next big event at Oak Ridge High School? Does a summer trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado, sound like fun? What about working on your math prep for ACT and SAT? Does an opportunity for several math scholarships sound appealing? We have a club for you! Oak Ridge High School Math Club and their Honorary Society, Mu Alpha Theta, meet every Friday in Mrs. Mullins’ room, CS231, immediately after school. We have food, math puzzles and contest prep, as well as ACT and SAT prep. Plus, joining Math Club is only $5 per year. If you are interested in Mu Alpha Theta membership, we will be happy to talk to you about that as well. There are lots of leadership opportunities in Math Club, and there is a lot of fun in the pursuit of the “Art of Problem Solving”. Come check us out this Friday, and consider joining us in Math Club 2017-18. (8/8-8/11) – K. Mullins
