The 2024-2025 school year begins for Oak Ridge Schools (ORS) on Monday, July 22, 2024, however, Kindergartners will only attend two (2) of the first (7) seven school days as part of a staggered schedule. Oak Ridge Schools staggers kindergarten students over a week and a half to give teachers an opportunity to work with students in a small group setting and create balanced classrooms.
Your student will attend school for (1) one day on either Monday July 22, Tuesday July 23, or Wednesday July 24 and dismiss at 1:30 p.m. Your student’s second staggered day will be either Friday July 26, Monday July 29, or Tuesday July 30 and dismiss at 3:30 p.m. You will receive notification the week of July 15 indicating which staggered days your student is assigned.
All kindergartners will come to school on Wednesday, July 31, and dismiss according to our normal Wednesday schedule at 1:30 p.m. On the first day, your child will have the opportunity to work with all the kindergarten teachers to assess their instructional needs. Your child will spend the second stagger day working with their kindergarten teacher.
Additionally, because this year is an election year, Oak Ridge Schools will be closed on election day, Thursday, August 1, and reopen on Friday, August 2.
